Aconteceu ontem à noite a cerimónia de entrega de prémios dos American Music Awards, que teve lugar no Nokia Theatre, em Los Angeles. Os grandes vencedores foram os One Direction, que levaram para casa o maior número de estatuetas e o prémio mais importante da noite, o de «Artista do Ano», juntamente com os restantes dois, «Banda Favorita» e «
Iggy Azalea destacou-se na cerimónia por ter sido a favorita em duas categorias, «Artista favorito(a) de hip-hop» e «Melhor Álbum de rap/hip hop». Taylor Swift foi homenageada com a distinção de «Prémio de Excelência Dick Clark» (fundador dos AMA) e brilhou com a performance de «Blank Space».
Katy Perry venceu o «Single do Ano» com «Dark Horse», mas também Beyoncé, Sam Smith, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Calvin Harris e John Legend levaram prémios para casa. Entre as grandes performances da noite tivemos J-Lo e Iggy Azalea com «Booty» a receber múltiplos elogios, Nicki Minaj com o seu novo single «Bed Of Lies» (em colaboração com Skylar Grey» e com o êxito «Bang Bang Bang», a colaboração com Jessie J e Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez com «Heart Wants What It Wants» e Fergie de regresso com «L.A. Love».
